The cost of one year’s tuition at the MSG Vientiane is expected to be around 1200 USD although it may depend on fixed costs such as facility rental and variable incomes such as the size of enrollment. This cost includes books, lunches, and all other fees. Boarding is a separate fee around 1000 USD.
The MSG offers course in the three main college preparatory subjects of Math, Science and English. Depending on teachers we can offer the following:
Mathematics: Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, and AP-Level Calculus
Science: Science, Physical Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, AP-Level sciences.
English: We are using The Potters School English for Grades 7 – 10. We are trusting the Father for a High School English teacher.
MSG-VTE is a Study Group that is a blend of classroom, distance, and independent education for grades 7-12 in the core subjects of Mathematics, Science, and English. In a typical month, students complete three weeks of work at home and one week together in the classroom. We allow MKs from various locations to be part of a school community with out goal being to help families continue to fulfill their calling. This can be people from Vientiane, other locations in Laos, and the surrounding countries.
The short answer is none. Due to needing to cover all the material in a week there is little time for other activities. Although we do not have a Music, Art, or Sports program, we encourage parents to involve their children in these activities during the three weeks at home.
The MSG has been running since 2007 and we have never been accredited. In general, we think that accreditation is good, but the nature of the MSG does not lend itself to an easy accreditation process. We believe we can accomplish our task without accreditation. Therefore, those who need an accredited diploma should look for another schooling option.
The MSG model has been operating in one Asian location since 2007. We have had a great deal of success with students enjoying the program and families feeling well-supported. Our location, MSGVTE, has been running since 2018.
Students with special needs are evaluated on a case by case basis. The previously operating MSG had success with many children with mild to moderate special needs. However we provide no specially trained teachers or guaranteed plans. Every teacher will make accommodations as they are able.
Due to the special and intense nature of the MSG (one intense week a month) it can be harder for students with special needs than at a regular school.
This is possible but discouraged. If you have special circumstances you can contact the school administration and discuss your needs.
